About Alyona

Hello, everyone!

My name is Elena Lukina but feel free to call me Alyona. I am a 22 year old Russian. I’m an undergraduate of Karelian Pedagogical Academy where I currently study education.

For three years I’ve been having a part time job as a teacher. Kids make me happy. Children are very open and their return is staggering. Working here I realized that helping and inspiring people; and changing the world for the better is my calling.

I believe working with the youth is an important issue, because the youth of today will eventually be the leaders of tomorrow. It`s my personal responsibility to do my part  in order to make sure that the youth of today grow up to become responsible business representatives, future politicians, and global citizens.

In May, 2010 I became a curator in NGO Center for intercultural communication and civil education. There I hold and moderate seminars and training aimed to help people in development their tolerance, assertiveness, leadership qualities, ability to be a good listener and other important issues.

My interests are wide. First of all, I adore modern dancing. I am a member of a local dancing group “Experimental”. Though, I’m just an amateur my hobby is a very significant part of my life, because when dancing I learn and express myself.

I’m also fond of music, sports (skiing, cycling, and fitness), psychology, linguistics and politics. If you share my interests I will gladly discuss them with you.

I believe that to change the world one should start with himself/herself. So my motto is Albert Einstein’s words “Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving”. I am excited about the opportunity to participate in the course and hope through learning from you, I will be able to develop my personality to change the globe.
