·   Project Title: Equality in Petrozavodsk, Russia

·   Project summary:
Many people in Petrozavodsk, especially minorities, are discriminated. The situation is pressing after the events in Manezhnaya square, Moscow and a string of acts of terror. Many blame Muslims in the facts above. Some Muslims can really be guilty but the citizens of our city abuse and discriminate all of them, though the majority of them are upright people and have no connection with the acts of terror.
Our team is sure that if we reduce and prevent further minorities discrimination, there will be less conflicts and violence. When population are trained, they are able to solve conflicts peacefully and live in harmony in multicultural communities.
In this project our team is going to reduce discrimination in Petrozavodsk for 30% via work with the citizens. We will hold 5 trainings in tolerance and diplomacy for functionaries, teachers, NGO workers and the youth in 2011. At the end of December 2011 we expect the participants to share the results at a circular table. Besides, we plan creation a total newsletter and a group on www.facebook.com and www.vkontakte.ru to further communication and information exchange.

1.       Each participant of the school of moderators will produce his/her personal scheme on the topic of tolerance.

M Measurable objective  

1.       Before the end of 2011 70 people will participate in trainings in tolerance and one circular table
2.     By the end of 2011 discrimination rate in the republic of Karelia will reduce 30%

A attainable or achievable

NGO Centre for intercultural communication and civil education will organise five two-days forums and will invite the government representatives, teachers, the youth and all people concerned to discuss ways in which the discrimination rate can be reduced.

R  realistic

Through trainings in NGO Centre for intercultural communication and civil education discrimination rate in the republic of Karelia will reduce by 30% before the end of 2012.

T time frame

Before the end of 2011 70 people will participate in five trainings in tolerance. They will produce 70 schemes on the topic of tolerance, one circular table and one article for a local newspaper.
By the end of 2011 discrimination rate in the republic of Karelia will reduce 30%

*  Methodology – non-formal education: trainings, discussions, seminars

*  A description of activities: the participants will take part in trainings “Betzavta”, “Besting” and others (trainings in diplomacy, finding effective ways of problem solutions, tolerance etc.)
*  Beneficiaries: most of the population of Petrozavodsk, especially the minorities, functionaries and the youth.

    Great work that you have finished your project on time i was able to read it and brrow some ideas that i can use to finish my final project as well, sometimes one has doughts about their own work but reading through your proposal just gave me confidence that i am on the right path.
